Ekurhuleni West TVET College (EWC) is a public TVET college serving the western Ekurhuleni region of Gauteng, declared by the Gauteng MEC for Education on 7 December 2001 through the consolidation of six predecessor institutions: Alberton, Boksburg, Germiston, Kempton, Lazarus Nhlapo and Usizo Colleges. It operates across six sites — Alberton, Boksburg, Germiston, Kathorus (covering Katlehong, Vosloorus and Thokoza), Kempton Park and Tembisa. The college employs 552 permanent staff, including 351 lecturers, and runs 18 simulated enterprise offices across its campuses to give students realistic business-environment training. It is located within an industrial zone that accounts for roughly 40% of Gauteng's industrial activity, and reported a 65.92% NC(V) pass rate in 2010. The college offers NCV and Report 191 (NATED) programmes in engineering, business studies, IT, hospitality and utility studies.
