Nkangala TVET College, based in the Nkangala region of Mpumalanga, was established in 2003 following the adoption of the FET Act of 1996, through the merger of the Witbank, Middelburg, Mpondozankomo and CN Mahlangu technical colleges (the CN Mahlangu campus itself dates to 1981, opening as Prince C.N. Mahlangu Technical College in 1983). Waterval Boven Campus joined the college in 2011 after transferring from Ehlanzeni FET College, and in 2013 the institution was rebranded from FET College to TVET College along with the rest of the national sector. The college now operates across five to six campuses (Witbank/eMalahleni, Middelburg, Mpondozankomo, CN Mahlangu and Waterval Boven), describes itself as the largest educational institution in Mpumalanga Province, and its site states it serves 10,000+ students with 300+ staff across 50+ programmes.
