George Whitefield College (GWC) is a private, reformed evangelical Anglican theological college founded in 1989 on the initiative of Bishop Joe Bell of the Church of England in South Africa (CESA), with Dr David Broughton Knox (formerly of Moore Theological College) as founding Principal. Originally based in Kalk Bay, it relocated in 1998 to its current campus at 34 Beach Road, Muizenberg, Cape Town. GWC specialises in classical theological education covering doctrine, biblical languages, church history and biblical theology, training leaders for ministry across Africa. It is registered with South Africa's Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997 (Registration Certificate No. 2007/HE08/002), and its Bachelor of Theology is fully accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). It is also registered as a non-profit organisation (NPO No. 042885) and is a founding member of the African Council for Accreditation and Accountability (AfCAA).
