International Peace College South Africa (IPSA) is a private higher education institution based in Rylands Estate, Cape Town, specialising in Islamic Studies. It was formed in 2005 through the merger of two established Muslim educational bodies, the Islamic College of Southern Africa (ICOSA) and the Darul Arqam Islamic Institute, and is described as the first Islamic institution registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in South Africa to offer accredited programmes. IPSA is registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) under South African company law, registration number 2006/003497/08. The college positions its mission around producing scholars, intellectuals and ethical leaders who combine faith, good character and knowledge, operating on the pillars of Knowledge, Virtue and Civilisation, and situates itself within a Muslim community presence in South Africa dating back more than 350 years. IPSA offers undergraduate through postgraduate qualifications in Islamic Studies, with its postgraduate offering emphasising Maqasid al-Shari'ah (higher objectives of Islamic law) research, and it publishes a peer-reviewed academic journal, Al-Wasatiyyah, covering Islamic and Arabic studies. Its campus is located at the corner of Johnston and Duine Road, Rylands Estate, Cape Town.
