Overview

Endpoint Security is a 10-module Cisco Networking Academy course focused on assessing and locking down the devices at the edge of a network. It covers common attack types and attacker deception techniques, wireless and mobile device threats, basic Cisco IOS device configuration, and the security features of both Windows (via administrative tools) and Linux (shell commands, file permissions, server administration, and malware detection). The course closes with modules on antimalware protection, host-based intrusion prevention, and core cybersecurity principles like the CIA triad and using hashes to verify file integrity.

It’s designed for secondary school and two-year college vocational students, and for anyone reskilling toward a cybersecurity job, with no formal prerequisites though basic PC and TCP/IP knowledge helps. Cisco recommends pairing it with Introduction to Cybersecurity. It runs roughly 27 hours and includes 31 labs and Packet Tracer activities plus 40+ interactive quizzes and a final exam.

On completion, learners earn a Cisco digital badge, and the course content aligns to the CCST Cybersecurity certification, with Network Defense as the suggested next course in the Junior Cybersecurity Analyst path.
