Overview
The FirstRand Empowerment Foundation offers bursaries to first-year students in a variety of degree programmes at traditional public universities, informed by the critical skills needs of the country and FirstRand’s social investment focus areas.
The bursary covers the first undergraduate degree and is aimed at academically promising students from families with a combined gross annual income of no more than R700,000.
The programme is administered by StudyTrust on behalf of the FirstRand Empowerment Foundation.
Who Can Apply
Minimum level 5 for Mathematics in Grade 12
Not older than 21 years in first year of study
Provisionally admitted to a South African public traditional university for full-time study
Currently in Grade 12 or completed Grade 12 within the last 3 years
Family combined gross annual income up to R700,000
Supported Study Fields
Agricultural Sciences, Commercial Sciences (Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics, Financial Management), Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Law, Arts, and Health Sciences
