Inscape Education Group is a private higher education institution specialising in design and creative-industry education, founded in 1981 by Harry Edmonds and Cherry Whitehead as South Africa's first multi-disciplinary design institution. It is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997 (registration number 2000/HE07/002); its qualifications are accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Inscape describes itself as the first South African institution to offer a Bachelor of Design degree and an Ideation Design specialisation. It operates contact-learning campuses (referred to as 'learning hubs') in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Midrand, Pretoria and Umhlanga (Durban), alongside distance-learning options, and previously expanded internationally with a campus in Dubai (established 2018). Since 2015 Inscape reports having financially assisted more than 124 students to access higher education through its own scholarship initiative. Programmes span interior design, graphic design, fashion design, ideation design, user experience (UX) design, architectural technology/design, digital marketing and brand/business communication.
