Stellenbosch Academy (formerly known as Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography) is a private higher education institution in the Western Cape specializing in creative fields, including visual communication, photography, and drawing. It was established in January 2003, initially opening in a historic building on Dorp Street in central Stellenbosch. Due to rapidly growing enrolment, it relocated to Techno Park, an innovation hub roughly 5km from the town centre, where it remains based today at 41 Techno Avenue, Techno Park, Stellenbosch, 7600. The institution is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a Private Higher Educational Institution under registration number 2004/HE07/002, in terms of the Higher Education Act of 1997, and operates under company registration number 2002/007246/07. Barbara Fassler serves as Director. Since its founding, the Academy has positioned itself as one of South Africa's leading tertiary creative institutions, citing numerous national and international awards. It offers degree, honours, and higher certificate qualifications in visual communication and photography, along with short courses and campus events for prospective students.
