Cloud Computing Fundamentals

Overview

Cloud Computing Fundamentals, offered through NEMISA’s free Digital Skills Platform (dsp.nemisa.co.za), introduces the basic concepts behind cloud computing: what “the cloud” actually is, why organisations run storage, applications and infrastructure on remote servers instead of local hardware, and the everyday terminology used around cloud services. As a foundations-level course, it is built for people encountering cloud concepts for the first time rather than for hands-on work inside a specific provider’s console.

It is aimed at IT beginners, students, and job seekers who want a starting point before moving on to vendor-specific training, such as the AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure pathways that NEMISA and its partner institutions also run. It doesn’t require prior technical experience.

By the end, learners have a working grasp of core cloud terminology and why businesses depend on cloud infrastructure, plus a NEMISA certificate of completion that can support a CV or serve as a stepping stone toward more advanced, vendor-backed cloud certifications.
