Overview
Oracle SQL Explorer is a free introductory learning path from Oracle University for anyone starting out with Structured Query Language. It builds up from first principles, covering an introduction to SQL and core relational database (RDBMS) concepts, then works through the standard Human Resources (HR) sample schema that Oracle uses across its training material to teach practical querying: writing SQL statements, using arithmetic expressions, column aliases and the concatenation operator, literal character strings and the alternative quote operator, the DISTINCT keyword, and the DESCRIBE command for inspecting table structure.
It’s aimed at anyone involved in building or supporting applications that use SQL, including developers, Database Administrators, Database Designers, and Support Engineers, and requires no prior SQL experience to start.
Rather than a certification exam, the path ends in an assessment requiring a score of 80% or higher, which earns an Explorer digital badge. It’s a practical, low-commitment way to pick up genuinely useful querying skills before moving on to deeper Oracle Database or SQL certification tracks.
