Overview

PRDV002: Professional Writing is a short, free Saylor Academy course focused on writing clearly and persuasively in workplace settings. It is organized into four units: Know Your Purpose, Know Your Audience and Communication Channel, Drafting Your Message, and Polishing Your Writing. Along the way, learners practice identifying the goal of a piece of writing, analyzing their audience, drafting persuasive emails, memos, reports, and presentations, and editing and proofreading for a polished final product across print, social media, and digital formats.

Because it is compact and practical, it suits working professionals, job seekers preparing CVs and cover letters, students, or anyone who wants to tighten up everyday business writing without committing to a long course.

At about 12 hours, it is one of the shortest courses in Saylor’s catalog and includes a free certificate of completion for those who score 70% or higher on the final exam (up to three attempts).
