Overview

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is the South African government’s primary funding mechanism for students from poor and working-class households who wish to study at public universities and TVET colleges.

NSFAS provides comprehensive funding intended to cover the full cost of study for qualifying students, including tuition, accommodation, learning materials and a living allowance, so that financial need does not prevent access to higher education.

Combined household income up to R350,000 per year (up to R600,000 for students with a disability)
Registered or accepted to study at a public university or TVET college
