Northern Cape Urban TVET College (NCUTVET) is based in Kimberley and traces its formation to an amalgamation process that began after 1994: the merger of three Northern Cape technical colleges (Kimberley College, formed from the former Moremogolo and RC Elliott colleges, and the Northern Cape Technical College) became effective on 1 April 2002. The college describes itself as one of only two TVET colleges in the Northern Cape and one of 50 nationally. It operates three campuses in Kimberley, all within about 10km of each other: Phatsimang and Moremogolo (in township areas) and City Campus (in the CBD), plus a Skills and Innovation Centre. The college states it accommodates approximately 8,500 students, and highlights its Centres of Specialisation in carpentry/joinery, bricklaying, plumbing and hairdressing, including producing its first cohort of 'Red Seal' trade-tested apprentices.
