Overview

FASSET offers several bursary categories – including for top-achieving matriculants, unemployed students and employed learners – that fund finance, accounting and IT-related study at South African public institutions, covering tuition, textbooks and accommodation up to R100,000 per year.

What it covers

Tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, and accommodation/meal allowances, with awards capped at up to R100,000 per year for university students in recent cycles (lower caps apply for TVET college students)

Eligibility

South African citizens registered or accepted to study at a Public University, University of Technology or TVET College; different categories exist for unemployed matriculants/students (household income typically capped around R1,000,000 per annum) and for employed learners sponsored by a FASSET-registered employer; the Matric Top Achiever category requires strong Mathematics and Accounting results

Certified ID copy, certified matric certificate or academic transcripts, proof of registration or acceptance letter, proof of household income, and (for employed applicants) an employment confirmation letter
