Maluti TVET College was established on 1 September 2002 when the Free State Department of Education merged several legacy institutions — Bonamelo and Sefikeng Colleges of Education and the technical colleges at Itemoheleng, Bethlehem, Kwetlisong and Lere la Tshepe — into a single college headquartered in Phuthaditjhaba. It now operates eight campuses (Main/Phuthaditjhaba, Bethlehem, Bonamelo, Harrismith, Itemoheleng, Kwetlisong, Lere la Tshepe and Sefikeng), is accredited by Umalusi and several SETAs, and operates under the Department of Higher Education and Training. Current student numbers are not published on the site. The college's stated vision centres on "excellence, innovation and success that inspires entrepreneurship and employability," and it offers NCV and NATED (Report 191) programmes spanning engineering, business and utility/service fields.
